Big Font

Privacy Policy

Big Font Privacy Policy

Big Font makes the text on your phone bigger or smaller. This policy explains which phone settings the app changes, what it keeps on your phone, what it sends to Google Firebase, how Premium purchases and ads work, and what happens when you read the news in the app.

Effective date: October 11, 2026 App version: 1.1.0 Package: com.bigfont.fontsize.textsize
No account There is no sign-in and no profile on a server.
Optional Premium, ads Premium is bought through Google Play. The free version shows Google AdMob ads; Premium removes them.
Usage statistics Firebase counts how the app is used and when it crashes. No name, email, contacts or camera pictures.

1. Phone settings Big Font changes

Big Font changes these settings only after you allow it to “Modify system settings” in Android Settings, and only when you ask it to. You can turn that permission off at any time in Android Settings.

Text size

Android's font size setting, from 50% to 500%. It changes when you apply a size in the app, on a Big Font Home screen widget or on the Quick Settings tile. It also changes at the times you set in “Size by time of day”, and after a restart when “Keep my size after restart” is on and the phone has gone back to 100%.

Brightness and screen timeout

Only from the “Easier to see” screen: screen brightness, automatic brightness, and how long the screen stays on.

Bold text, display size, keyboard size and magnification stay under your control in Android Settings. For those, Big Font only opens the right Settings page and shows the steps.

2. Data kept on your phone

Your sizes

The size you chose last, your two quick sizes, and your “Size by time of day” plan: whether it is on, the daytime and evening sizes, and when each starts.

Your options

Whether “Keep my size after restart” is on, and the text size you chose in the news reader.

Rating reminder

How many times you have kept a size, and when the app last asked you to rate it, so it does not ask more than once every 60 days.

Premium

Whether you have Premium, copied from Google Play so it also works offline, and how many times the Premium screen has been shown and purchases made on this phone.

News

The latest list of news stories and their pictures, kept for up to 24 hours so the News tab opens quickly.

This data is stored in the app's private storage on your phone. Your current text size, whether these options are on and the Premium counts are also part of the usage statistics in section 3. If backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include this data in your device backup and restore it on a new phone. Google runs that backup under the Google Privacy Policy, and you can turn it off in Android Settings.

3. Usage statistics, crash reports and settings (Google Firebase)

Big Font uses Google Firebase to learn which features help and what goes wrong, and to adjust the app without an update. It never sends your name, email, contacts, anything you type, the pages you read, or camera pictures.

Firebase Analytics

Which Big Font screens you open and which buttons you use, for example “applied 130% from the size chart” or “added the widget”; the text size in use; whether “Keep my size after restart” and “Size by time of day” are on; whether a Big Font widget or the Quick Settings tile is added; the app's language; and whether Big Font may change system settings.

For Premium: when the Premium screen opens, from where, which design it shows and how many times it has opened; the plan you pick, its price and currency, whether it has a free trial, whether the purchase went through, and whether it is your first or a later purchase.

For news: the name of the news source and the position of a story you open, and the text size you set in the news reader. Not the story's address or what is on the page.

Firebase adds the app version, phone model, Android version, an app instance ID, the Advertising ID, and an approximate country based on the internet connection.

Firebase Crashlytics

When Big Font crashes: the technical error report, phone model, Android version, app version and a Crashlytics installation ID.

Firebase Remote Config

Downloads settings that let us change the app without an update, for example which Premium screen to show, whether the News tab is on, and whether ads are on. It uses a Firebase installation ID.

Advertising ID

Firebase reads Android's Advertising ID so we can see which ad campaigns bring people to Big Font. When ads are on, Google AdMob reads it too (section 5). You can reset or delete the Advertising ID in Android Settings, usually under Privacy, then Ads.

Google processes this data for us as a service provider, under the Firebase privacy and security terms and the Google Privacy Policy.

4. Premium purchases (Google Play)

Premium is optional. You buy it, and a subscription renews, through Google Play. Google Play handles the payment under the Google Privacy Policy; Big Font never sees your card, bank details, name or email. The app receives only what it needs to unlock Premium: which plan you bought, its purchase token and its state. Each time you open the app or the Premium screen, Big Font asks Google Play which purchases you have, so Premium comes back after a reinstall or on a new phone and ends when a subscription ends. To cancel, open Google Play, then Payments & subscriptions; uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

5. Ads (Google AdMob)

The free version of Big Font shows ads from Google AdMob: a banner at the bottom of the main screen, and a full-screen (interstitial) ad when you close the Premium screen that opens by itself after the welcome screen or at launch, if you do not buy. Ads are on by default. We can switch them off without an app update; Premium removes them. While ads are off, Big Font requests no ads.

What AdMob collects

When ads are on, Google AdMob collects the Advertising ID, your IP address (from which it estimates your general location), information about the phone and the app, and how you interact with ads. Google uses it to show ads, limit how often you see them, measure them, prevent fraud and, if you agree, choose ads that suit you. On Android versions that offer it, AdMob may also use Android's Privacy Sandbox (ad topics and measurement).

Your choices

In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, Big Font asks for your consent through Google's consent message before personalized ads. Everywhere, you can reset or delete the Advertising ID, or turn off ad personalization, in Android Settings.

Google acts as an independent controller for ad data. See how Google uses information in ads and the Google Privacy Policy.

6. News and the news reader

The News tab downloads a list of stories from our news server at appsgenz.vn. The request carries no account, name or advertising ID; like any website, the server receives standard connection information such as your IP address, used only to deliver the list. Story pictures load from the publishers' servers.

A story opens in a reader inside Big Font, but the page comes straight from the publisher's website, which may use cookies, scripts and its own ads under its own privacy policy. Big Font does not read what you type on those pages or keep a list of pages you visit; it counts only the source and position described in section 3. “Share” and “Open in browser” hand the link to the app you choose.

7. Camera (Magnifier)

Big Font asks for camera access only when you open the Magnifier. The camera picture is shown live on your screen and processed only on your phone. “Freeze” keeps one picture in the app's memory until you go back to the live view or close the Magnifier. Big Font never saves pictures to your phone's storage and never sends them anywhere. The Light button turns on your phone's flashlight while the Magnifier is open.

8. Permissions

  • Modify system settings: to change the text size, brightness and screen timeout as described in section 1. You grant it in Android Settings; Big Font explains it first.
  • Camera: for the Magnifier only, asked when you open it.
  • Run at startup: so “Keep my size after restart” and “Size by time of day” keep working after the phone restarts.
  • Internet and network state: to send the statistics and crash reports and download the settings in section 3, to check purchases with Google Play, to download the news, and to load ads when they are on.
  • Advertising ID and ad services: read by Firebase (section 3) and, when ads are on, by Google AdMob (section 5).
  • Google Play billing: to buy Premium (section 4).

9. Google Play rating window

After you keep a size, Big Font may ask Google Play to show its rating window, at most once every 60 days. Google Play decides whether the window appears. If you rate or review the app, that goes to Google Play, not to us, under the Google Privacy Policy.

10. Children

Big Font is made for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

11. Keeping and deleting your data

  • To delete everything Big Font keeps, open Android Settings, then Apps, Big Font, Storage (Storage & cache on some phones), and tap Clear storage. Uninstalling the app also deletes it. Neither cancels a Premium subscription (section 4).
  • Settings that Big Font changed stay as they are after you uninstall it, for example your text size. To undo them, choose the Normal (100%) size in the app before uninstalling, or change them in Android Settings.
  • Firebase keeps usage statistics for up to 14 months and crash reports for 90 days, then deletes them. Big Font has no accounts, so this data is not linked to your name or email. Google keeps ad and purchase data under its own policies.
  • To stop sending statistics, uninstall the app. To ask us to delete statistics already sent, email us.

12. Sharing and changes to this policy

Big Font does not sell personal data. Data goes only to Google (Firebase, Google Play and, when ads are on, AdMob), to our news server and to the publishers' websites you open, as described above, or where the law requires. If a future version changes how the app handles data, this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date will change with it.
